We are thrilled to present the technical program for the AVS 70 International Symposium and Exhibition (AVS 70), taking place from November 3-8, 2024, at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL. This Symposium will tackle cutting-edge issues in materials, processing, and interfaces, relevant to both research and manufacturing communities.
The weeklong symposium showcases the multidisciplinary and diverse topics of relevance to the AVS community while also highlighting topics of emerging interest and importance within the Symposium theme “Innovating Sustainability: Next Generation Energy and Quantum Devices and Their Characterization.” The program also includes Focus Topics and Mini Symposia highlighting the crosscutting nature and emerging interests – including AI and big data – as well as an outstanding vendor exhibition.
Thanks to the outstanding abstracts submitted by the international scientific community and the tireless efforts of our Program Committee, we have curated a vibrant and engaging program. This in-person event will feature approximately 1,100 oral and poster presentations – greater than a 15% increase from AVS 69 – and provide numerous opportunities for professional development, networking, collaboration, and socializing.
Focus Topics at this meeting include:
- Actinides and Rare Earths
- Chemical Analysis & Imaging of Interfaces
- Advanced Microscopy and Spectroscopy to Explore Field-Assisted Chemistry
- AI/ML for Scientific Discovery (AIML)
Mini Symposia include:
- Atomic Scale Processing
- CHIPS Act
- Light Sources Enabled Science
- Quantum Science and Technology which includes a Quantum Science Workshop and a panel discussion on Quantum Industry & Workforce Development on Sunday, Nov. 3rd
Throughout the week, there will also be sessions focused on machine learning, big data, and emerging artificial intelligence across the many different topical areas of AVS. These sessions will complement our strong core of traditional topics, including fundamental surface science and interfacial phenomena, applied surface science, surface engineering, micro- and nano-electronics, nanoscale science, and technology, manufacturing science and technology, thin films, plasma science and technology, micro- and nano-electromechanical systems, electronic and photonic materials, biomaterials, and vacuum science and technology.
We are confident you will find many sessions of interest. If you missed the original abstract submission deadline or have new results to share, it’s not too late! We are accepting late-breaking abstracts until September 5th, 2024, providing an opportunity to showcase your latest research in one of our oral or poster sessions. We encourage you to participate in this year’s Symposium by attending or presenting some of your exciting new results.
In addition to the Technical Program, there will be an extensive Exhibition showcasing related equipment, tools, materials, supplies, services, and new technologies throughout the week. Many of our AVS award winners will be honored with invited talks in the division or group where the award was given.
We also plan to host our annual 5 km run, several special workshops and professional development events, a Member Center, a Career Center, social events, and numerous networking and career advancement opportunities for both emerging and established researchers.
If you are new to our AVS community, WELCOME! AVS 70 offers numerous opportunities to network, and we are certain you will find AVS 70 to be the perfect balance — an exceptional scientific conference, a place to meet new colleagues and friends, and a platform to share ideas for years to come.
We look forward to seeing you at AVS 70 in Tampa!
