5K Run Details
6:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024
- Location: Meet in front of the Tampa Convention Center
- Ceremony: Wednesday at noon in front of the race registration booth
Our 42nd Annual AVS 5k Run, the oldest professional Society run on our planet, will be held with our AVS 70th International Symposium & Exhibition in Tampa, Florida. With your entry fee, you will receive a run t-shirt, race number, and awards.
The race will be held on Wednesday morning. Runners must meet in front of the Tampa Convention Center at 6:00 am as the buses will depart promptly at 6:15 am for the race site. Stop by the race registration booth by Tuesday, November 5th to pick up your t-shirt and number, a map of the course, and find organizational details for Wednesday morning. The awards ceremony will be held at the Run registration area on Wednesday at noon.
Create a Team
Don’t forget to put together a team to compete in our CORPORATE RACE and DIVISIONS AND GROUPS RACE. Each team representing a corporate entity (university, unemployed, research organization, manufacturer, etc.) or Division/Group must have at least 3 team members to qualify.
Times are handicapped by age and sex.* To enter your team, please email your roster, team name, and affiliation to the Race Director (bridget_rogers@avs.org) before noon on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Please make sure each team member has registered for the race.
*While we do not currently have qualifying standards for non-binary athletes, we are working on ways non-binary participants are accepted into the event. Discussions are ongoing with non-binary attendees, in an effort to further promote inclusion at all AVS events.
Sign Up Early to Pick Your T-shirt Size
Please note that we assign t-shirts in the order in which race registrations are received. Those who register before September 11, 2024, are guaranteed to receive their desired size so please be sure to register ASAP!
